BBC News

BBC News – Electric Proms cancelled by BBC

More sad tidings of our present age of austerity…

One cannot help but wonder if the BBC is making its own political statement by cancelling some of the more popular items in its calendar…

That said, some of the most creative periods arise from tough times… I can only live in hope.

Time for the first of what will probably be a regular post… my New Tracks List.Nonym megaphone man

Watch this space…

I have been listening to podcasts on and off since 2005 and have listened to everything from comedy to tech to the frankly weird.

These days I tend to stick to music based podcasts and these are the 4 that seem to be stable in my subscription list. In each case the name is linked to the site you can subscribe from, plus I think they are all available through iTunes.

The Resident Advisor Podcast – the leading online electronic music magazine.

The Bleep Podcast – Warp Records’ online store brings you a podcast featuring music from over 300 independent labels that is available via bleep.com.

Electronic Music Bears – I am slightly biased here… This is the Facebook group for which I compile a weekly London update of news, podcast and selected events. Run by bears for anybody with an interest in all kinds of electronic music. New podcast at least every 2 weeks from a guest DJ.

The Honey Potcast – Honey Soundsystem is a collective of disc jockeys, musicians, performers and designers from the SF Bay Area.

Enjoy!

More musical marvellousness for ya!

This has been kicking around for a few months now, but I have only just discovered it. Vocal by Rob Harvey, formerly of The Music.

Carl Craig is a true master. Listen out for the strings drop around 6:55 – lovely!

I actually work with one of the guys from X-press 2 and it seems there are some more new tracks due soon – some collaborations and remixes. I have been promised a sneak preview – watch this space in case I am allowed to share…

Love this!

James Blake’s cover of Feist’s song. I seem to be arriving late to the party, but the more I hear of James Blake, the more I want to hear.

I have always been a music nut.

I have tried producing my own music, with mixed success.

I have been a living room DJ for a couple of years, on and off.

Why am I still playing at it?

Fuck it!

2011 will be the year I get off my arse and start playing to more than my partner and friends.
